ABOUT
Founded March 25, 1944 by JAV Lithuanian organizations. Registered as United Lithuanian Relief Fund of America, Inc. Provided sponsorship guarantees, housing, and employment assistance for Lithuanian displaced persons entering the US under the Displaced Persons Act (Public Law 774). Approximately 85% of Lithuanian WWII refugees were resettled through BALF sponsorship. Operated from 1944 to 2008. Had 35 chapters across US cities including Chicago, New York, Cleveland, Detroit, Boston, Los Angeles.
