The Žiburio Archive is a public catalog and preservation initiative housed at Dievo Apvaizdos Parapija (Divine Providence Lithuanian Catholic Church) in Southfield, Michigan. The Archive catalogs Lithuanian diaspora textbooks, periodicals, religious texts, and community records for educational and research use. By using the Archive, you accept these terms.

The Archive cares for physical materials, their digital representations, and the provenance records that document them. Rights in source materials remain with their respective rights holders. The collection is not sold, and access to the public catalog is not charged for.

Archive-produced catalog metadata and descriptions may be cited or quoted for personal research, educational study, and scholarship with attribution to the Žiburio Archive and the specific record.

This permission applies only to Archive-produced catalog content. It does not grant permission to reproduce or reuse books, periodicals, documents, photographs, or other source materials.

Bulk downloading, automated scraping, corpus harvesting, or systematic extraction of Archive content is not permitted. Use of structured metadata, cataloging analysis, descriptive text, or images for machine learning training, dataset construction, model fine-tuning, or other automated knowledge extraction requires prior written authorization from the Archive.

Catalog descriptions, provenance annotations, and reviewed contextual metadata represent curatorial work. They may not be separated from their source references or repackaged as an unsourced dataset.

Selected images of a cover, title page, copyright page, or another reviewed page may be displayed to document and identify the archival copy. They are not a complete digital edition, do not establish public-domain status, and do not grant permission to reproduce or reuse the material.

This site involves two distinct layers of intellectual property:

Source materials. Rights in archival materials remain with their creators, publishers, institutions, or other rights holders. Use is governed by applicable rights-holder or providing-institution terms. A confident copyright status appears only when it has been reviewed and supported by evidence; otherwise the status is shown as under review. This information is provided for research context and is not legal clearance to reproduce or distribute the material.

Archive content. Archive-produced structured metadata, cataloging analysis, archival descriptions, provenance annotations, and curatorial text are tied to specific objects in the collection. Citation or quotation should identify the Žiburio Archive and the specific record.

The Archive is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The Žiburio Archive makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of catalog records, metadata, copyright assessments, or other site content. The Archive is a cultural-memory and documentation initiative, not a legal or rights-clearance service.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Žiburio Archive, its volunteers, officers, and affiliates shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of or inability to use this site, including reliance on catalog information, copyright assessments, or metadata.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

These terms may be updated as the Archive develops. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use of the site following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
