Overview

The Žiburio Archive is a cultural memory initiative of Žiburio lituanistinė mokykla (Žiburio Lithuanian Heritage School, est. 1949), located at Dievo Apvaizdos Parapija (Divine Providence Lithuanian Catholic Church), Southfield, Michigan. Žiburio lituanistinė mokykla is a member school of the Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA, part of the Lithuanian American Community, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Archive catalogs and structures Lithuanian diaspora materials — textbooks, periodicals, religious texts, and community records — for educational and scholarly access. This policy describes how we handle information in connection with your use of this site.

Information Collected

This site does not require account creation or registration for public access to the Archive catalog. Standard server and access logs may be maintained for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used for advertising, behavioral tracking, or any commercial purpose.

If you contact the Archive by email or inquiry form, information you provide will be used solely to respond to your inquiry and will not be shared with third parties.

Cookies and Tracking

This site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioral analytics services. Basic session or preference data may be stored locally in your browser for site functionality.

Third-Party Services

Catalog data is hosted via Supabase. Image assets are served via Supabase Storage. The site is hosted on Vercel. These services may process request data in accordance with their own privacy policies. No personal data collected by the Archive is transmitted to these services beyond what is necessary for site operation.

Historical Records and Named Individuals

The Archive catalog may include names of historical individuals appearing in archival materials — as authors, editors, illustrators, or named entities in publications. Provenance records may include donor names, inscriptions, and institutional markings associated with specific items. These references reflect the historical record and are presented in that context. Requests regarding the handling of personal information in catalog or provenance records may be directed to the Archive at archives@ziburioLTmokykla.org.

Data Retention

Server logs are retained for a reasonable period necessary for security and operational purposes, after which they are deleted. The Archive does not maintain persistent profiles of site visitors. Catalog records — including bibliographic metadata, curatorial notes, and archival descriptions — are maintained indefinitely as part of the Archive's cultural memory mission.

Children's Privacy

The Žiburio Archive does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The site is designed for general public access to archival materials and does not include features directed at children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, please contact us at archives@ziburioLTmokykla.org.

International Visitors

The Žiburio Archive serves the global Lithuanian diaspora community and welcomes visitors worldwide. The site is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, you understand that any information processed in connection with your use of the site may be transferred to and stored in the United States. We process minimal personal data and do not engage in behavioral tracking or profiling. Inquiries regarding data handling from visitors in the European Union or other jurisdictions may be directed to archives@ziburioLTmokykla.org.
