Raktas į Naująjį Testamentą, Pirmoji Dalis: Bendrija : Sąjūdis
Introduction
Raktas į Naująjį Testamentą (A Key to the New Testament) is a scholarly yet accessible Lithuanian-language introduction to New Testament studies, authored by biblical scholar Antanas Rubšys and published in 1978 by the Lithuanian Catholic diaspora press Krikščionis Gyvenime in Putnam, Connecticut. The first of two volumes, it situates early Christianity within its historical and theological context through ten chapters covering the New Testament community, the Old Testament background, the life of Jesus, Pauline theology, and more. As volume 16 in the Krikščionis Gyvenime book series, it represents a major intellectual achievement of the Lithuanian-American Catholic diaspora, bringing post-Vatican II biblical scholarship to Lithuanian readers worldwide at a time when such works could not be freely published in Soviet-occupied Lithuania.

Significance
Raktas į Naująjį Testamentą stands as one of the most substantial works of Lithuanian Catholic biblical scholarship produced in exile. Authored by Antanas Rubšys, a professional biblical scholar at Manhattan College, it brought the fruits of post-Vatican II Catholic biblical renewal — historical-critical method, attention to the Old Testament background of the New, community and movement as interpretive frameworks — directly to Lithuanian readers in their mother tongue. At a moment when Soviet occupation made the free production and circulation of such works impossible in Lithuania itself, the Krikščionis Gyvenime series and the wider diaspora publishing infrastructure ensured that Lithuanian theological thought continued to develop at an international scholarly level.
The book also reflects the remarkable collaborative fabric of the Lithuanian-American diaspora: an editorial board spanning four American states, Canada, and West Germany; maps by one collaborator; liturgical artwork by another (the late Telesforas Valius, whose chapter vignettes were his final work); language editing by a lituanist; and printing by a Lithuanian religious sisterhood in Putnam, Connecticut. The result is a document not only of biblical scholarship but of how a displaced community sustained intellectual and spiritual life across continents.
